Vote and Delegate Voting Power to Community Members
With the launch of Ooki DAO, Ooki protocol is governed by the community of OOKI token holders through DAO governance. The treasury funds are locked under control of the DAO and major protocol decisions are made through governance proposals through the Ooki governance process. Today we are making it easier for OOKI token holders to delegate their voting power to members of the community through a new Stake and Delegate user interface.
Delegate Voting Power
Voting power can be delegated to any Ethereum address. We submitted a request for community feedback about who the community would like to see included in a list of recommended delegates. We compiled a list of a few recommended active Ooki community members based on this feedback. This list is meant to serve as a starting point for people who want to delegate voting power but are not sure who to delegate to. Delegated voting power can be revoked at any time. There is no requirement to delegate voting power to anyone from the list below. Learn more about delegating voting power by visiting the Ooki Docs.
Benefits of Delegating:
- If you otherwise weren't planning to vote, your voting power will be used to vote on Ooki DAO Proposals by the person you’ve delegated to.
- If you don’t have time to remain active, or participate in governance, you can choose an active community member to vote for you.
- If you have a small amount of tokens, delegating voting power is a less expensive way of participating in governance because when you Delegate your vote, you don't need to pay gas fees each time you vote for a proposal.

New DAO Voting UI
Alongside the launch of delegating we are also launching the new DAO Staking page. Through the new DAO staking page, users can now view their total available voting power and choose who to delegate their voting power to.
Viewing Total Voting Power
The first box shows all the voting power controlled by the users connected wallet address. Voting power is determined by the combined amount of OOKI tokens and VBZRX tokens staked. Voting power also reflects the amount of votes that have been delegated to you by members of the community through delegation.
Delegating OOKI Voting Power
On this new DAO tab, users can now delegate their voting power to members of the community. In order to delegate voting power, users simply enter the address they would like to delegate to, and confirm the transaction with Metamask.
How to Vote with OOKI Tokens
In addition to delegating voting power, users also use their voting power to vote in snapshot proposals or on chain Ooki DAO proposals. While we are working on completion of the UI interface using Boardroom, users can perform any onchain voting through etherescan by interacting directly with the voting contract. Instructions explaining this process will be released when a proposal is available for onchain voting.
